What is an EAP?
Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), also known as Employee and Family Assistance Programs (EFAPs), are a form of employee benefits that are typically offered to employees and their families by their employer as part of a company's health insurance plan.
EAPs generally include screening/assessment, short-term counselling and referral services. These programs are designed to provide support to employees who are experiencing individual, marital or family-related issues that may be adversely affecting their work or personal lives
No two EAP programs are identical. To find out whether your organization offers an EAP or EFAP and the specific types of services available, contact your human resources department.
