Mental Health Works Services and Employment Assistance Programs
Mental Health Works is an initiative of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario that addresses the workplace management of issues related to employees who are experiencing mental health concerns.
Our work focuses on strategies and approaches that allow frontline managers, human resource personnel, union reps and occupational health professionals to improve their awareness, communication, and effectiveness in dealing with complex and often emotionally charged situations. We take a realistic and solution-focused approach to resolving workplace issues.
Messages and Testimonials
"I will be suggesting to the corporation that this training be mandatory for every supervisor at every level."
Our work benefits significantly from effective employee assistance and wellness programs that focus on helping individual employees access effective treatment, develop healthy coping strategies, and return to wellness. As one EAP provider told us, if we spend the time and effort to help an employee, only to send them back to a workplace that is uncomfortable working with them, it is likely we will have a breakdown in the return-to-work.
We know that the unique training we offer is not included in management training programs, MBA degrees, or supervisory training. We feel it is unfair to expect frontline staff to know how to be effective in a situation for which they have little or no experience or training. Let Mental Health Works complement your EAP and Wellness efforts by providing the workplace intervention that considers the impact on all stakeholders.
